Ignite Club Fired Up By Competition27 June 2019 (by admin) |
Basking in the sunshine at the Berkeley Show last weekend, members of the Ignite Club wowed the judges in their Jurassic-themed wheelbarrow competition.
Weeks of preparation paid off as Ignite Club receive recognition for their imaginative and ‘future ready’ wheelbarrow with a well-deserved 2nd place out of 12 competing schools.
The judges were delighted to hear from the pupils about how the project has helped them learn about climate change and the different ways of helping to save the planet.
They linked the extinction of dinosaurs with exploring ways that will prevent our living world from being destroyed by harmful greenhouse gases and over use of plastics. The children planted seeds, made trees from recycled plastic bags, wrote reflections and prayers and thought about how our four core Christian Values of responsibility, respect, creativity and happiness helps us become ‘future ready’ in protecting our amazing world now and in the years to come.
Blue Coat Primary also contributed towards the Education Area at the show, organised by Mrs. Baskerville, Mrs. Mynett and Mrs. Blaken. The area featured a barefoot challenge, dinosaur egg hunting game, ride-on tractor course and dinosaur glitter tattoos. An amazing £220 was raised for school funds. Thank you to parents Mrs. Grey, Mrs. Hanney and Mrs. Staines for giving up their time to help on the day.
